Correct Settings for the Moodle Gradebook

Where to set up grading rules:

1. Go to grades under Administration

2. Under 'Choose an action," pick "Full view."

3. Make sure to click the hashmark for "Aggregate only non-empty grades" and save changes.

Also, there are a number of different grade philosophies that Moodle can utilize. Generally speaking, you should choose "Simple weighted mean" to do grades.

Important note: When you set this setting correctly, it means that non-grades (empty grades without a student attempt) will NOT be counted at all towards the student total. This means you will need to manually enter in zeros for old assignments to dock a non-performing student's grade.
